Scott Torrance Landscape Architect Inc. will join Councillor Giambrone, the City of Toronto, and Friends of the West Toronto Railpath for the official opening of the West Toronto Railpath scheduled to take place on Friday October 30, 2009 at 2:00 pm.

Scott Torrance Landscape Architect Inc. celebrates the official opening of ESRI Canada's green roof.

Scott Torrance Landscape Architect Inc. celebrated the official opening of ESRI Canada's green roof of the company's Toronto office - having turned a 704-square metre paved terrace on the 9th floor into useable green space and an urban oasis that will help mitigate urban heat effect and provide additional habitat for birds, butterflies and other wildlife.

Even Toronto Mayor, David Miller, was supportive saying, "We commend companies such as ESRI Canada for its important contribution and continued focus on environmental sustainability. With the addition of this new green roof, we have taken another step in making Toronto a healthy and liveable city."

The West Toronto Railpath

The West Toronto Railpath (WTR) is completed and open! The WTR (Prime consultant: Scott Torrance Landscape Architect Inc.) was deemed substantially complete on August 14, 2009 and taken over from the contractor, Mopal Construction Limited, by the City of Toronto for operations and maintenance.

Scott is Now a Board Member of The Design Industry Advisory Committee - May 2009

Scott has recently been asked to sit on the board of the Design Industry Advisory Committee.

What is the DIAC?

The Design Industry Advisory Committee was formed in January 2001 by City of Toronto Economic Development and comprised of stakeholders of the design industry and the Design Exchange. It set as its primary goal the strengthening of design-related strategic partnerships that address human resource issues and economic development in Ontario. DIAC envisions a future Ontario in which the design industry workforce expands its skills and capabilities in order to play a vital role in the economic and social health of the province.

Scott Presents at the OAA Conference - May 7, 2009

Scott presented ‘Green Roofs and Vegetated Walls Are Not Created Equal: Successful Strategies and Techniques for Different Building Types’ at the Ontario Association of Architects' Where are the architects? conference on May 7th 2009. Over 200 architects attended his presentation to learn about green roof strategies and also to hear about the most recent developments and requirements of the City of Toronto's new green roof by-law as co-presented by Jane Welsh (City of Toronto).
