Institutional design
Scott Torrance knows that large institutional projects, such as churches, hospitals or theaters, require a blend of creativity and specialized knowledge of existing vegetation and architectural principles, in order to enhance the overall outdoor experience of the building.
Torrance also understands that the impact of the grounds of large institutions must extend well beyond its visual appeal. His landscape designs for institutions meet a diverse range of human needs, most importantly:
- connection: the grounds provide a safe, beautiful environment to gather outside the walls of the main institution
- contemplation: the landscape provides a space for personal reflection for the visitors and staff of the institution
- rejuvenation: the outdoor space provides opportunity for walking and other physically invigorating activities
Scott Torrance is experienced at creating designs that impart these key functions while working collaboratively within the limits of budgets, regulations and multiple stakeholders.
