STLAi is thrilled to announce that Victoria Park Subway Station – Green Roof and Landscape has been awarded the CSLA Regional Honour Award.
Scott Torrance and Svetlana Lavrentieva accepted the award on behalf of the firm last week at the OALA President’s Reception and Awards Ceremony, as part of the 2014 OALA Conference and AGM.
As the first pilot project for the TTC, Victoria Park Subway Station Green Roof and Landscape sets a high standard for excellence in sustainable design and establishes a precedent for future TTC green roofs. The design incorporates site-specific responses to unique local environmental and light conditions and cost requirements. By installing light weight, low-maintenance, pre-vegetated modules on both existing and new roof structures, the design allowed for easy installation and immediate visual impact. The extensive green roof and lush landscape shape a beautiful, welcoming, and safe public space surrounding Victoria Park Station and contribute to the ongoing positive renewal in the area.
