At STLAi, we always strive to enrich the urban experience by connecting people with nature. Promoting biodiversity is one of the ways we support this goal.
Last week, the city of Markham hosted a Green Roof Seminar where Scott shared his experience and knowledge of green roof design, the benefits of green roofs, and the significance of biodiversity in creating sustainable landscapes.
Scott also had the pleasure of presenting at the Beneficial Biodiversity Symposium hosted by Toronto Botanical Garden. Scott spoke about the sustainable strategies involved in the design of the West Toronto Railpath, and the ways in which these strategies help the Railpath contribute to biodiversity in the city. The symposium continued with a variety of experts and leaders sharing innovative ideas and practices that support biodiversity and thriving ecosystems, especially in urban settings.
The symposium also featured some engaging art installations, including “The Language of Plants” — which was created by a team that included STLAi’s own Jasmeen Bains. The installation attracted a lot of interest during the symposium and is still currently on display at the Toronto Botanical Gardens this week. Drop by and have a listen!
