Matt Galloway recently had Biology Phd student Scott MacIvor in to speak about his research on wild bee and wasp species on Toronto’s green roofs. Along with Scott Torrance, Terry McGlade and Dr. Brad Bass, MacIvor was one of the co-authors of the Guidelines for Biodiverse Green Roofs, and his research helped the team decide on strategies to promote biodiversity through green roofs.
So what do bee and wasps need from green roofs?
“Nesting material, pollen and nectar or prey, and a place to put it all.”
